New classroom blocks constructed at Chivake Secondary School

THE Second Republic continues to prioritise access to education, with the Chivake community in Gutu being the latest to benefit from the construction of new classroom blocks and staff houses.
Two years ago, Chivake Secondary School in the resettlement area of Gutu West only had two blocks and two staff houses.
Fast forward to 2024, the school now has two more completed classroom blocks, another staff house and a borehole for gardening projects.
The enrollment has since improved and the community is appreciative of government efforts to improve access to education in rural communities.
One of the community members said, “We are happy as a community that this school is developing, our children used to travel long distances to other schools but now the enrollment here has since improved. Again, we are no longer losing teachers due to lack of accommodation here.”
“Our area legislator working with the community helped a lot in ensuring development at this school. We are looking forward to more blocks here such that there is no gap between rural and urban schools,” said another community member.
Area legislator Honourable John Paradza who has been working with the local community in the development of Chivake School expressed gratitude to government support.
He said, “This is a resettlement area and we have got a limited number of schools and clinics but we would want to appreciate the government through various programmes such as devolution. We have seen a lot of development and as community leaders, we are always there to support.”
Collaboration between government and development partners has seen several schools being constructed countrywide, with three new schools opening their doors to pupils in Masvingo province early this year.
