National Hero Cde Mucheche buried

THE late national hero, Cde Martin Ben Nhau Mucheche, who was buried in Beatrice this Thursday, has been described as a fearless cadre whose contribution to the liberation struggle was unmatched by his peers.

Cde Martin Ben Nhau Mucheche played a significant role in the liberation struggle by providing vehicles for use by the ZAPU leadership.

Cde Mucheche also offered office space to nationalists where secret meetings were held during the liberation struggle.

The Minister of State for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Cde Appolonia Munzverengwi urged young people to emulate the selfless character of the late national hero.

ZANU PF Mashonaland East Chairperson, Cde Daniel Garwe, who is also the Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities chronicled the role played by the late national hero.

Cde Mucheche was one of the successful businesspeople who owned a fleet of buses as early as the 1970s.

Cde Mucheche was also a successful businessman after independence and played a crucial role in the empowerment of indigenous Zimbabweans.

He is survived by four wives, 29 children, 56 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
