Mutapa targets long term macro-economic prosperity

THE recently established Mutapa Investment Fund (MIF) is targeting wealth creation for citizens and the country’s economy.
Outlining the vision of the upgraded sovereign wealth fund, Mutapa Investment Fund incoming chief executive officer, Dr John Mangudya revealed commitment to serve the interests of the nation by ensuring that the institution plays an important role in overall economic growth.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa for giving me this opportunity to serve the needs of the country under the Mutapa Investment Fund. It is my responsibility to ensure that in the long term, the fund becomes critical towards facilitating growth,” he said.
Being at the helm of more than 20 state-owned utilities, whose shareholding was transferred by the government to the MIF, presents Dr Mangudya and his team of experts running the fund with an opportunity to immediately examine the entities and enhance corporate governance systems.
He added, “The fund has a huge role to focus on ensuring that the state-owned utilities under its branch are offered an opportunity to grow their balance sheets. So it is my responsibility to ensure that viability is restored through good corporate governance systems.”
According to Dr Mangudya, the fund’s mission is to create value and wealth for current and future generations.
The MIF is also a long-term strategy by the government to sustainably stabilise the country in addition to the monetary and fiscal policies in line with Vision 2030 aspirations.
