THE Zimbabwe women national cricket team, the Lady Chevrons, are through to the final at the African games after beating Nigeria by five wickets in the semi-finals at the Achimota Cricket Oval in Accra this Monday.

The Lady Chevrons have bagged the second medal for Zimbabwe at the African games after making it to the final of the women’s cricket competitions.

Zimbabwe will play South Africa on Wednesday to determine whether it will be silver or gold.

The Lady Chevrons ‘s victory over Nigeria will see the continent’s top ranked sides battle for glory.

Meanwhile, four Zimbabwean swimmers are through to the finals of different events set for this Monday evening at the Bourteyman Aquatic Center.

Donata Katai will compete in the 100m butterfly and 50m backstroke final while gold medalist Denilson Cyprianos will gun for another medal in the men’s 50m backstroke.

Vhenekai Dhemba will showcase her talent in the 200m breaststroke while Liam Davis will compete for a medal in the men’s 200m breaststroke.

The Karate team is back home after competing at the African games while Triathletes are enroute to Ghana.

Zimbabwe has one medal so far and currently seat 12th at the Games, that are currently being led by Egypt, which has 66 medals.
