PUBLIC interviews to select 10 judges to fill vacant positions at the High Court and one at the Administrative Court were successfully concluded this Wednesday.
The interviews began on Monday.
“The process went on smoothly, but one candidate dropped out of the race so a total of 35 candidates were interviewed for the High Court positions. Three candidates were interviewed for the Administrative Court,” said Judicial Service Commission Secretary, Mr Walter Chikwanha.
Mr Chikwanha also disclosed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa will make the final decision.
He added, “After these interviews, the panel will deliberate and come up with recommendations which will be submitted to the President who will exercise his Presidential Powers to appoint the judges. The panel can only recommend, but the final decision will come from the President.”
The JSC is mandated by the constitution to hold public interviews before judges are appointed to ensure transparency in the process.
