DESTINATION Zimbabwe continues to attract global attention, with 40 travel agents from Germany having landed in the resort City of Victoria Falls this Wednesday for a familiarisation tour which will also see them touring other Kavango Zambezi Member States.
The Second Republic is on a spirited drive to engage and re-engage the international community to normalise relations after more than two decades of isolation.
The delegation is the largest group of tourists to visit Zimbabwe post Covid-19.
“We are receiving numerous enquiries on Zimbabwe so we are here to sample the tourism products here.”
“We want to experience what we will sell to our clients.”
“We will market the destination when we go back home,” said travel agents who spoke to the ZBC News.
The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) highlighted the importance of the visit.
“This visit is crucial as it helps the agents to understand the product they will be selling. This will enable them to share their experience with their clients in confidence and from an informed position,” noted Germany-based Zimbabwe Tourism Officer Mrs Colleta Beitchmann.
ZTA executive director for international marketing, Mr Jefferies Manjengwa added, “It is an educational tour and they will sample various activities such as boat cruise. They will also meet the KAZA executive where a presentation will be made on tourism opportunities in the region as a way of penetrating this source market and giving it confidence.”
While in Zimbabwe, the German travel agents will get an opportunity to meet the local tourism promotion body, ZTA, and visit places such as Victoria Falls, Matopos and Hwange National Park.
