Golfer, Robson Chinhoi wins Zanaco Masters

Story by Lawrence Trusida, Sports Editor

Zimbabwe’s premier golfer Robson Chinhoi bagged his first victory on the prestigious Sunshine tour after winning the Zanaco Masters in Zambia at the weekend.

After shining on the Safari Tour in East Africa with two victories, Robson Chinhoi finally showed his prowess closer home after winning the Zanaco Masters in Zambia and his first win with global significance.

The win was his first on the prestigious Sunshine tour after outlasting South African, Neil Schietekat in the playoffs at Lusaka Golf Club on Sunday.

Chinhoi scored 17 under par after four rounds and becomes the first indigenous black man to win the Sunshine Tour sanctioned tournament in Zambia.

The 32 year old, who began the day two shots off the lead, put himself in contention after a bogey-free front nine, and then claimed the lead with three birdies on the back nine.

That was good enough to get him into a championship playoff where he met Neil Schietekat, the winner of the previous event on the Sunshine Tour, the FBC Zim Open a fortnight ago.

However, Chinhoi kept his nerve to bag his first Sunshine Tour title.
