GENERAL Retired Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Colonel Retired Kembo Mohadi have been sworn in as the country’s two Vice Presidents.
The two Vice Presidents took their oath of office before Chief Justice Luke Malaba at State House in Harare this Friday.
After their appointment by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to be his deputies, the two Vice Presidents took their oath of office and immediately pledged to work for the country’s development.
It is a new term for the ZANU PF-led government after being given the mandate to lead the nation once again after the August 23 General Elections.
In the presence of their family members, the two Vice Presidents pledged to work for economic transformation.
Speaking after being sworn in, General Retired Dr Chiwenga stressed the need for the country to remain united in its pursuit of economic development under the leadership of President Mnangagwa.
“Today is an important day for me and my family, but more importantly it’s a big day for our party and our people that we start a new year for government which we’re going to start with zeal. To build the Zimbabwe that we want in support of our President and his vision which he has pronounced to the people. What we said we are going to achieve, we will work day and night for it but for us to do that we want to do it in peace and unity,” he said.
Vice President Colonel Retired, Mohadi weighed in saying they will work with President Mnangagwa to achieve targets set across various sectors of the economy.
‘’I am here to serve the nation, I have been serving since the second republic. We have a vision and we will work to attain that vision,” he said.
The country now awaits the announcement of a new cabinet by President Mnangagwa with a focus on achieving the targets enunciated under the National Development Strategy.
