Funds mismanagement rocks Zvishavane District Hospital

Zvishavane District Hospital (ZDH) management is in the eye of a storm on allegations of mismanagement of funds and resources which have affected service delivery.

This came out during an assessment of the hospital by the Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care, Honorable Sleiman Kwidini this Friday.

The deputy minister, who is on a familiarisation tour of health care facilities, learnt about the alleged mismanagement of funds and resources after meeting the hospital management team and stakeholders.

“We want to find out whether what we are hearing at the ministry is correct or not. We came here and found out that they have an x-ray which has not been working for the past 8 years, and we learnt that there is mismanagement of resources and funds at the hospital. We discussed and mapped a way forward that will make Zvishavane District Hospital a place where health care services are top-notch,” said the Deputy Minister.

Deputy Minister Kwidini also highlighted that infrastructure development and improving service delivery are top on the government’s agenda.

He added, “We want to make sure that the hospital is back to its glory days. We understand that their X-ray machine has not been functional for the past 8 years, so it’s our duty as the government to make sure that all things are functional. We will allocate them machines that will ease their duties.”

The Second Republic’s promise of massive improvement in the provision of quality health care has become a living reality across the country through the devolution programme.
