CONCERNED Zimbabweans are mobilising more than 200 000 signatures for a petition against the SADC Election Observer Mission Report penned by Dr Nevers Mumba.
Known as Concerned Citizens of Zimbabwe, the group is mobilising signatures for a petition set to be presented at the SADC headquarters in Botswana.
The petition is zeroing in on concerns regarding Dr Mumba and his shenanigans during August 23 General Elections.
“We believe the report by SADC Observer Mission, led by Dr Nevers Mumba has a lot of loopholes considering that him being the chair was an illegality considering his conviction in Zambia. We also feel the report was his opinion,” said Mrs Agnes Chikondo, Concerned Citizen representative.
Another representative, Advocate Mellisa Dinah said, “We are targeting 200 000 signatures, and we would like to urge like-minded Zimbabweans to come forth and append their signatures on our petition. In two weeks time, we will travel to Botswana to lodge our petition against Dr Mumba’s report.”
Concerned Citizens of Zimbabwe said they believe the SADC Electoral Observer Mission Report was not objective, adding that the mission overstepped its mandate and ignored the effects of sanctions on the political, economic, and social fabric of the country.
The country held its general elections on the 23rd of August, with ZANU PF garnering 52.6 percent of the Presidential vote
