Bulawayo-based Premier Soccer League side, Chicken Inn have an uphill task when they face log leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars in the peak of Match Day 10 fixtures at Luveve Stadium this Saturday.
Coming from a two-nil defeat away to inform Manica Diamonds at Gibbo stadium in Triangle, the task does not get any easier for 2015 champions.
History is against Chicken Inn who have won only twice and lost five times against the Mhondoro-based outfit in 11 outings.
Chicken Inn have not been at their scintillating best this season under Prince Matore who took over from his mentor Joey Antipas.
“It was not pleasing the way we conceded last-minute goals. Ngezi are a good side, but we will bank on the home game. We are creating chances but we are missing. We will keep working hard. Our focus is not on the record. Teams should have their own stadia for flexible training programs,” said Matore.
On-fire Ngezi Platinum led by youthful Coach Takesure Chiragwi are hoping to pile more misery on the Gamecocks.
“It’s going to be a tough match, but we are going to stick to the things that have been working for us. We just want to continue playing our game, and we hope to control the match,” noted Chiragwi.
The Gamecocks will be without the services of bereaved Dominic Jaricha and the injured pair of Arthur Chinda and striker Clive Agusto for their blockbuster with Ngezi Platinum.
Meanwhile, the Gamecocks have partnered Mtshede Primary School for their junior football development programme.
“We have been having a partnership with Mtshede which is now in its second year. This donation is a follow-up to our first donation during the first quarter and we hope it will motivate junior players to aim high in their career,” Chicken Inn juniors team manager, Charles Dliwayo.
The players identified and groomed at the school are expected to feed into the Chicken Inn junior teams.
