CCC legislators’ double standards exposed

Story by Bruce Chahwanda, Political Editor

THE Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC)’s double standards were exposed after the opposition party’s legislators attended the Committee on Standing Rules and Order despite the party’s decision to disengage from parliamentary activities.

The move by the opposition political party members to attend the Committee on Standing Rules and Order meeting this Thursday comes barely a day after CCC leader Nelson Chamisa directed them to disengage from parliament business.

The development has left Chamisa in the cold as his trusted lieutenants such as Amos Chibaya, Jameson Timba and Sessel Zvidzai were among those who attended the meeting contrary to his directive.

During the meeting, National Assembly Speaker Advocate Jacob Mudenda explained what transpired during the fruitful engagement.

“We have assigned various members to committees of Standing Rules and Orders, we have assigned committee members to various portfolio committees as well as members of the thematic committees in the Senate. We also did allocation of members to the regional and international organisations and we have concluded the meeting exceptionally well,” he said.

CCC legislators are part of portfolio committees that have already been set up to enable parliamentary business to progress smoothly.
