Boost for Tripartite Negotiating Forum secretariat Story by Fungai Jachi THE International Labour Organisation (ILO) has reaffirmed its commitment to building a strong, influential and effective negotiating forum in Zimbabwe. The ILO handed over supplies and equipment to the Tripartite Negotiating Forum (TNF) secretariat in Harare this Thursday in a move expected to enhance their operations. The equipment was handed over by ILO Country Director, Ms Philile Masuku. “We are here to present to you our constituents the equipment and supplies mentioned during the retreat. The impact of our actions on strengthening social dialogue through the TNF will go beyond the workplace as they will also contribute to wider economic, social and environmental progress and promote a resilient and inclusive labour market,” said ILO Country Director Zimbabwe and Namibia, Ms Philile Masuku. The TNF partners are appreciative of the initiative meant to improve efficiency. “We are grateful that the equipment has come at an opportune time when we are just beginning to operationalise the TNF,” said Chief Director of Labour Administration Employment Promotion and Services in the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Mr Clifford Matorera. “Now we can use modern equipment in carrying out our mandate,” said TNF Management Committee member, Dr Winifred Goromonzi. “Tools of trade are important and it will be easier for us now to effectively do our job. We will now be able to research and do more because of this equipment,” TNF Management and Principal, Mr Kennias Shamuyarira noted. The Tripartite Negotiating Forum was launched in 2019 under the TNF Act, paving the way for the establishment of an independent Secretariat which brings together government, business and labour to discuss socio-economic challenges affecting the country.
