Zimbabwe and Belarus continue to deepen bilateral relations, with the agricultural mechanisation facility set to enter a third phase.
The deepening of bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and Belarus came under the spotlight as the visiting Deputy Prime Minister of the Eurasian country, Honourable Petr Parkhomchyk paid a courtesy on President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House in Harare this Monday.
Emerging from the meeting, Honourable Parkhomchyk said he brought a congratulatory message from President Alexander Lukashenko after President Mnangagwa was voted for a new five-year term in office.
“I brought a congratulatory message for another five-year-term from my President H.E Alexander Lukashenko as you are aware they are very good friends,” he said.
Zimbabwe has benefitted from the cooperation with Belarus through massive support in the country’s agricultural mechanisation programme, which has entered the third phase.
Honourable Parkhomchyk added, “Bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and Belarus are deepening with the mechanization programme which is going into phase three. Zimbabwe is hum strung by the existence of illegal economic sanctions imposed by the US and its western allies.”
Under the Belarus agricultural mechanisation facility, Zimbabwe took delivery of nearly 1800 tractors, 74 combine harvesters, 210 planters and other machinery under phase one and two of the programme.
