12 teams gear up for BUZ National championships

Battle lines have been drawn in the Basketball Union of Zimbabwe national championships set for Harare in two weeks’ time.

Initially pencilled for Africa Day, the Basketball Union of Zimbabwe national championships have been rescheduled for the 2nd to the 4th of June.

Basketball Union of Zimbabwe (BUZ) Secretary General, Charmanie Chamboko confirmed that it is all systems go for the tournament which will see winning teams from the men and women’s categories representing the country in the zone six basketball league.

“As BUZ we have put everything in place, the commissioners to run the tournament. We expect the teams to be in by the 1st of June. Clubs are also reminded to take note of the special transfer window which has been extended to the 19th of May,” she said.

In the ladies’ category UZ Sparks, Harare City Hornets, MSU Hawks and JBC make up Group A, while Vixens, Lakers Mzansi, Bunnies and NUST Phoenix are in Group B.

On the men’s side, Group A is made up of JBC, Arcadia Bucs, Legends and Warriors, while Group B has Foxes, Southern Mavericks, Leopards Academy and Harare City Hornets.
