Drug peddler jailed

A notorious drug peddler in Mvuma has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after being convicted for dealing dangerous drugs.

The drug dealer, 28-year-old Jaison Chada who used to ply his trade around the Athens Mine in Mvuma was convicted by a Mvuma magistrate after pleading guilty to dealing in dangerous drugs.

Chada had been found in possession of 582 grammes of dagga and 26 sachets of crystal meth popularly known as mutoriro.

He was convicted on the charge of possessing dagga, while the charge of possessing crystal meth is still pending as police are still carrying out further investigations.

Government and stakeholders have escalated the fight against drugs and substance abuse in an exercise that has seen several drug dealers and kingpins being nabbed
