A Harare man has appeared in court on allegations of kidnapping, raping and leaving a nine-year-old girl with a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI).

Brighton Kamuzora allegedly kidnapped the girl who was playing at home and took her to a bushy area to commit the crime.

During his court appearance this Friday, it emerged that Kamuzora allegedly pulled out a machete and threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone about the abuse.

The nine-year-old however told her mother that the accused had sexually abused her.

It is the State’s case that it was discovered that the girl was infected with an STI when she was medically examined.
