Two Zvishavane men, who attacked and seriously injured a man over a girlfriend using machetes were denied bail this Thursday by Zvishavane magistrate, Eva Matura.
Brighton Sasa and Jonathan Dendera of Oreti Compound in Zvishavane were denied bail by Magistrate Matura over attempted murder charges.
Allegations are that on the 4th of this month at around 0500hrs, the complainant Gaylord Nhokodzi (27) was at a tuckshop buying cigarettes when he was approached by the duo.
The court heard that the accused persons went on to confront the complainant whom they were accusing of dating Sasa’s girlfriend.
It is further alleged that a misunderstanding arose between them leading Sasa to produce a machete and assaulting the complainant.
During the assault, Nhokodzi tried to flee the scene but was tripped by Dendera who also assaulted him with an axe all over the complainant’s body.
However the complainant was rescued by imbibers who restrained the accused persons.
A police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused persons.
The duo were remanded in custody to 20th of this month for trial.
