Armed robbers gunned down

THREE suspected armed robbers have been killed after an exchange of fire with police officers in Gwanda.

The suspects identified as Pride Moyo aged 29, Newman Ncube and Ntokozo Ncube whose ages have not been given, were gunned down at Tuli River in Gwanda this Tuesday.

This was confirmed by the Zimbabwe Republic Police in a statement saying detectives from CID homicide Bulawayo acted on a tip off and intercepted the suspected four-armed robbers who were travelling in a green and white Toyota Hiace vehicle on their way to Freda Mine.

The ZRP added that the suspects succumbed to gunshot wounds at Gwanda District Hospital after exchanging fire with the police officers.

The suspects are linked to cases of armed robbery including one which occurred on 30th of June last year at Insindi Ranch House.

They were also accused of two other cases of attempted murder.
