Rwandese companies are targeting joint ventures with Zimbabwean firms in a move expected to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.
A Rwanda – Zimbabwe Business Forum set for next month is set to create a platform for the two countries to focus on increased bilateral cooperation.
In an update ahead of the forum, Rwanda’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency James Musoni revealed that more joint ventures are being lined up in productive sectors.
“The forum presents an opportunity for the two countries to further scale up business and trade ties riding on the current gains where we have seen more trade inflows and exchange of cooperation, given the fact that it will be held in Kigali, it also provides an opportunity for Zimbabwean companies to scout for strategic and viable market opportunities. Therefore, it is a win-win platform under the matrix of consolidating current gains thereby focusing on growing the ties to higher levels in the short to long term. Remember, Zimbabwe has been one of our strategic partners and we intend to do more.”
The forum is also expected to create a platform for business representatives within the two economies to address challenges hindering investment and trade.
“Several business representative organisations are also expected to attend in a move that will result in them sharing ideas on modalities to harness trade while further unlocking value arising from the current cooperation. Therefore, we are highly eager to ensure that the forum becomes a success in terms of implementation while also expecting positive results,” added Ambassador Musoni.
The upcoming forum, to be held between 18 and 20 March, is also expected to allow the two countries to evaluate bilateral trade achievements and identify areas of mutual economic interest.
