New SMEs breaking into the export market

Story by Sifiso Sibanda, Assistant News Editor

SMALL to  Medium scale entrepreneurs have started benefiting from an export initiative rolled out under   Zimtrade as the trade body targets to rope in more players from the sector through its incubation programme.

The incubation project implemented through  Zimtrad which has trained over one hundred local entrepreneurs,  is paying dividends to   Small to  Medium Scale enterprises who are now breaking into the foreign markets.

Zimtrade Southern  Region manager  Mrs Jacqueline  Nyathi said the incubation project has yielded the desired results and they continue to work with these small business entities as they grow.

“As Zimtrade, we are working hard on our mandate of pushing export orders and the current thrust is on Small businesses that don’t have the capacity to stand on their own and the results are encouraging,” she said.

Zimtrade is emphasising product refinement and the understanding of the markets as key tenets in the export markets.
