Gold milling plant set up in Guruve

Story by ZBC Reporter

Women who are into mining in Guruve are excited by the prospects of better returns after the setting up of a gold milling plant worth more than US$500 000 in the district.

A case in point is a group of 125 women under the Guruve Women in Mining Cooperative, the brains behind a mining enterprise which has become a reliable source of livelihood.

Their enterprise has also been boosted by the setting up of a gold milling plant in the district through the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, amid prospects of better returns for miners.

The cooperative’s chairperson, Ms Princess Judges said, ‘‘The Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Dr Sithembiso Nyoni this Thursday was at the milling plant located about 25 kilometres south of Guruve Business Centre.’’

Dr Sithembiso Nyoni noted, ‘‘Provincial Development Officer, Ms Judith Hove singled out the issue of connecting the gold milling plant to the national power grid as key towards ramping up production.’’
