THE country’s power generation continues to improve, with average output now at 1300 megawatts from last year’s 600 megawatts.
Under the country’s economic blueprint, the National Development Strategy One provision of energy is a top priority to sustain the envisaged growth trajectory.
While the country’s estimated peak demand for power is around 1800 megawatts, the country’s electricity generation capacity remains below national demand.
However, the nation continues to forge ahead in improving power generation, which is now averaging 1300 megawatts up from 600 megawatts last year.
Latest statistics indicate that Kariba Power Station is generating 875 megawatts, while Hwange is at 425 megawatts.
The full synchronisation of Hwange Unit 7 and completion of works on Unit 8 are expected to improve power generation even further.
The government is also pushing for the industry to go green, by installing solar energy parks, while households are also expected to adopt renewable energy sources.
