LOCAL filmmakers had a feel of how Hollywood films are made courtesy of renowned Hollywood writer and producer, Matt Negrete, who is in the country for an interface with Zimbabwean creatives.
The American writer and producer famed for productions like ‘Walking Dead’, ‘Graceland’ and ‘White Collar’, who is on a two-week visit in Zimbabwe, is imparting film production skills to an enthusiastic group of creatives who reckon the initiative is a step in the right direction towards the development of the local film industry.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from one of the best. We have been imparted with knowledge on how to come up with powerful storylines. We have also learnt that collaboration pays off as far as scriptwriting is concerned,” said Ian Musakanda a scriptwriter.
“The workshops are eye-opening. We have been taught how important it is to invest in our storylines which results in a good production,” said Itayi Chitaurao another scriptwriter.
A brainchild of Almasi Arts, the interface which ends on the 17th of this month is meant to develop the local film industry through sharpening writing skills and film industry knowledge.
