Story by Patience Nyagato

Yesteryear hitmaker, Kalabash, known for hits Pukunyu and Sorry featuring the late Kuligan, has bounced back on the music scene two decades after he went AWOL from music due to a lack of resources.

Kalabash said, “For a musician to rise there is a need for catalysts who help people hear your talent. Talent alone is not enough. So due to some constraints, I had to stop recording though I would always do live shows in Chiredzi.”

The Pukunyu hitmaker might have been silent for two decades, but was not folding his hands as he produced two albums ready for release featuring collaborations with Jamaican musicians.

“This time I am surely going international. I have a lot in store for my fans. We should as artists stop the production of bubblegum music and focus on real issues that way our music will stand the taste of time. I have two albums already ready for release so fans will hear from me soon and I have a lot,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kalabash believes lyrical content plays a significant role in shaping the music industry and will maintain messages that focus on issues of the day.
