GOVERNMENT has expressed optimism that the construction of the Museum of African Liberation will forge cooperation amongst African states bound by a common historical background.
This came out during a tour of the Museum of African Liberation by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Dr Jenfan Muswere in Harare this Thursday.
The custodians of the project, INSTAK noted that there has been positive feedback from African countries towards the initiative with construction works on course.
“The heritage village is at 18% construction stage, liberation mall in phase one and we are currently constructing linking roads, other countries are contributing, and 21 Heads of States so far have agreed to cooperate, you saw President Nyusi leading a groundbreaking,” said INSTAK CEO, Ambassador Kwame Muzavazi.
The government believes the facility is not only good for the preservation of African history but key in cementing ties.
“The tour takes care of achievements we have managed to register as a continent, also post-colonial guiding the steps we can take for the success of the African Continental Free Trade Area, it’s a giant step towards uniting Africa, a giant step towards documenting the history of Africa as a continent with agenda 2063. It is imperial history being kept,” said the Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere.
Apart from being home to African monuments, the museum site holds an animal park, a recreational park, an amusement park, modern shopping malls, a conference centre ready to host international summits, a five-star hotel, and presidential upmarket villas among others.
