PREPARATIONS for the ZANU PF 23rd National People’s Conference gathered momentum on Wednesday as the party’s National Conference Committee met in Chinhoyi to fine-tune plans for the annual gathering scheduled for Mashonaland West Province in October.
Resource mobilisation dominated the meeting held at the Chinhoyi University of Technology, with party leaders reaffirming their commitment to delivering a successful conference.
ZANU PF Treasurer General Cde Patrick Chinamasa, representing the party’s National Chairman Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, presided over the preparatory meeting, where delegates also welcomed the enactment of the Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3.
Addressing the gathering, Cde Chinamasa described Chinhoyi as a place of historical significance and urged party structures to translate resolutions into tangible outcomes.
“Chinhoyi is not just a venue but an altar for revolution; it reminds us that resolutions must be fought for and results must be defended. As we interlock between resolutions and results, consolidating development and deepening economic empowerment towards Vision 2030, we do so in the shadow of fallen heroes who turned resolutions into public action,” he said.
He confirmed that the conference programme had already been approved by the party leadership.
“The conference dates, venue and theme were approved by the Politburo, and the budget has been set. We congratulate President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, the party leadership and the grassroots for the parliamentary endorsement of the Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3,” he said.
Mashonaland West Provincial Chairperson Cde Mary Mliswa-Chikoka said the province was fully committed to hosting a successful conference.
“We are greatly honoured by the coming of the top leadership for the official launch of preparations for the 2026 National People’s Conference,” she said.
The annual conference is one of ZANU PF’s key decision-making platforms, bringing together delegates from across the country to review progress, adopt resolutions and chart the party’s policy direction.
