ZIMBABWE launched their Davis Cup Africa Zone Four promotion campaign in emphatic fashion with a commanding 3-0 victory over Mozambique in Nairobi, Kenya, this Wednesday.

The Sables of tennis took an early lead through Ronan Mtisi, who produced a dominant performance to defeat Eric Sigauque 6-1, 6-0 in the opening singles match.

Zimbabwe maintained the momentum in the second singles encounter, where top seed Courtney Lock overcame Luca Figueiredo in straight sets to secure the tie.

The team then completed a clean sweep by winning the doubles match, sealing a comprehensive 3-0 victory and moving to the top of Pool B.

Zimbabwe is competing in Pool B alongside Botswana, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the top two teams progressing to the promotion play-offs.

Two places in Africa Zone Three for 2027 are up for grabs.

Attention now shifts to Thursday’s pool fixture against the Democratic Republic of Congo, where another victory would significantly strengthen Zimbabwe’s promotion ambitions.
