Ebrahim takes charge of Zimbabwe women’s team with historic New Zealand tour in sight

FORMER New Zealand international Kate Ebrahim has been appointed as interim head coach of the Zimbabwe Women’s cricket team ahead of their historic tour of New Zealand and debut appearance in the ICC Women’s Championship.
Ebrahim will be supported by Travor Phiri, with Debu Banik joining the squad as Bowling Consultant. The technical team also includes physiotherapist Pamela Moyo and former Zimbabwe Women’s player Thandolwenkosi Mlilo, who will serve as Team Manager.
The interim appointment follows a restructuring of the technical team after the team’s disappointing performance at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal, replacing the previous setup led by Walter Chawaguta.
Cricket analysts say Ebrahim’s international experience is expected to provide strategic guidance as Zimbabwe Women prepare to compete at the highest level in the ICC Women’s Championship, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s women’s cricket journey.
The team will face New Zealand in a series of matches, offering Zimbabwean players exposure to top-tier international competition and an opportunity to elevate the profile of women’s cricket at home.
