Chevrons suffer 5th consecutive ODI series defeat to Afghanistan

Zimbabwe suffered another humiliating series defeat at the hands of Afghanistan after losing the series decider by eight wickets at Harare Sports Club this Saturday.

The Chevrons struggles against quality opposition are far from over after a two-nil series defeat to Afghanistan.

Afghanistan’s win in the last match after the series opener was washed out ensured they would not lose the series, but also meant Zimbabwe needed to win at all costs to avoid a white wash.

It was easier said than done as Zimbabwe once again put up a below par score, dismissed for 127 runs with only veteran all-rounder Sean Williams putting up a fight with a half century.

In reply, the Asians had no trouble reaching the target, achieving the feat in just 26 overs to take the series two-nil.

This was the Chevrons 5th consecutive ODI series loss to Afghanistan since 2015.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe have no time to lick their wounds as they shift focus to the Test Series which begins on Boxing Day at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
