Zimbabwe are hoping for an all-round improvement to avoid a humiliating whitewash, when they take on Afghanistan in the third and final One Day International match set for Harare Sports Club this Saturday.

Going into the decider, Zimbabwe are currently trailing Afghanistan one-nil after the first match of the series was washed out.

In the nine overs, they batted in the first match, Zimbabwe had already lost four wickets and this Thursday it was even worse with the Chevrons being dismissed for 54 runs.

The team has been consistently performing below par, but Chevrons captain Craig Ervine believes they can change the script.

“We need to change our mindset. It is not about ability, we can compete with anyone else if we change our mind set. We need to be positive in our approach test. We are a team in transition, but we can do better for ourselves and our fans,” he said.

At the conclusion of the ODI, the two teams will shift focus to the only test match which starts on Boxing Day.
