ZIMBABWE Republic Police have launched a manhunt for three machete-wielding robbers who allegedly pounced on a Mount Darwin man and robbed him of 900 United States dollars on Sunday.

The three unknown assailants allegedly descended on Paul Gata’s homestead at around one am and attacked him with machetes leaving him with wounds all over his body before getting away with 900 United States dollars.

Mashonaland Central deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Naison Dhliwayo confirmed the incident saying robbery cases are spiraling out of control in the province.

“Cases of robbery are mushrooming in the province as such we are hunting for three machete wielding robbers who pounced on Gata and robbed him of his wallet,” he said.

This comes just a week after a female artisanal miner in Shamva was robbed of 3500 United States dollars at her house by three armed robbers who are still at large.
