ZPCS embarks on Covid-19 awareness campaign for Young offenders

THE Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) has taken its Covid-19 awareness campaign to Whawha Young offenders Prison, as part of measures to combat the spread of the pandemic.
Young offenders at Whawha Prison this Wednesday had a chance to get key information on the measures being taken to curb the spread of Covid-19. 
Speaking to ZBC News on the sidelines of the awareness campaign, the Prison’s officer in charge, Superintendent Mavis Dzimbanhete said they have instituted various Covid-19 preventive measures at the prison.
‘We have put in place measures such as fumigation, sanitization and mandatory mask-wearing in a move to curtail the spread of COVID 19,” he said.
ZPCS spokesperson, Superintendent Meya Khanyezi revealed plans to take the awareness campaign to other prisons across the country.
“As the correctional service, we make sure that our inmates are well taken care of especially in this era of COVID 19.”
Meanwhile, Domboremhikidzano Church handed over food hampers and protective clothing to assist in improving the welfare of inmates.
During the campaign at Whawha Young offenders Prison, it was evident that despite incarceration, juveniles have access to Covid-19 awareness material as they shared some critical information.
