The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services says it will continue mobilising and providing resources to vulnerable families of deceased officers and those incapacitated in the line of duty.

THE Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) says it continues to spread its charity activities across the country’s provinces as part of their social responsibility.

Speaking in Masvingo on the sidelines of the ZPCS Commissioner General Goodwill Trust Golf Tournament, Commissioner General Moses Chihobvu said they are paying school fees for 350 orphans.

“We are going around mobilising resources to provide assistance to vulnerable families of deceased members, widows, widowers and those officers incapacitated. So far, a number have benefited and we will continue mobilising for more,” he said.

Guest of Honour at the golf tournament, Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira applauded the ZPCS for being a key participant in the agricultural recovery and growth plan in Masvingo province.

“Here is Masvingo, ZPCS’s Mutimurefu Prisons is a good example of maximum land utilisation. Our Agriculture extension officers benefited from the Mutimurefu motorbike assembly programme that enhanced the performance of our extension workers,” he noted.

More than ZW$1 500 000 was raised during the golf tournament with participants walking away with various prizes.
