THE Zimbabwe Outward Seller Mission to Lubumbashi has ended on a high note, with Zimtrade and local companies on the mission, confident of securing long term ties with both buyers and investors.

The mission, which ends this Friday has been a resounding success as local exporters have managed to stitch deals to supply diversified goods and services to DRC.

The event, organised by the national trade development promotion agency, ZimTrade, is perpetually designed to improve linkages between Zimbabwean businesses and buyers in the region in line with the aspirations of the National Development Strategy One where external trade will be the cornerstone of economic development.

Accordingly, Zimtrade’s Operations Director Mr Similo Nkala is warming up to increased trade and anticipates to surpass the 13 million United States Dollars realised last year.

“As we wind up our trade mission, it is encouraging to note that the continued engagements by local businesses to DRC buyers have brought smiles to these exporters because of the real monetary value attached to exports,” he said.

For the past three days, Business to Business meetings saw participating companies broadening their understanding of customer needs.

“There is a lot of modernisation and construction taking place here and we have managed to tie deals that will drive our export receipts,” said Mr Jeffrey Mutimbidziri-Exporter.

Targeted sectors for export growth to DRC include horticulture, processed foods, agriculture inputs and implements, building, construction, protective wear, and services such as engineering, graphic designing, education, and insurance.

The mission also acted as a platform to court investors interested in various sectors of the Zimbabwean economy.
