The ZIMSEC June 2020 examinations began this Tuesday, with candidates and invigilators strictly observing COVID-19 safety guidelines.
A survey by ZBC News in Harare this Tuesday showed that examination centres opened their doors to candidates, with COVID-19 safety guidelines being adhered to as candidates sat for their Ordinary level English Paper one.
Some of the candidates who spoke to the ZBC News after writing the exam explained how they made it to the centre without any hustles.
Harare province had one hundred and sixteen centres with candidates who had registered at schools that were being used as quarantine facilities being accommodated at the nearest exam centre.
Authorities in the education sector expressed satisfaction with the handling of the examinations at various centres countrywide.
60 000 candidates have registered for the June examinations, the bulk of them being external candidates.
Some schools that were used as COVID-19 quarantine centres are being fumigated in preparation for the resumption of classes, which will be done in phases.
