ZIMSEC extends examinations registration deadline by a week

THE Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has extended the deadline for the 2022 examinations registration period after a public outcry over the limited time given to pay for the November public examinations.

This follows stories carried by ZBC News this Friday where parents and guardians across the country lamented the short examination registration period and called for its extension.

As a result, ZIMSEC capitulated and announced a one week extension period to cater for students who failed to meet the 29 July deadline to now register from August 1 to August 5.

“The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council has opened a mop up payment and registration period which will run from Monday August 1 to Friday August 5, for candidates who failed to meet the July 29 deadline.

“Payments being made in Zimbabwe dollar are to be made using the rate of ZWL$488 to US$1. The US and the rand prices remain unchanged,” said Nicky Dhlamini, ZIMSEC’s spokesperson.

This Friday, most parents and guardians raised a red flag over the short registration period for the 2022 Grade Seven, Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations, which they said was not enough for them to raise the required resources.
