THE 2021 Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC), Advanced Level results are out, with the country recording a 3.68 percent increase in the national pass rate.
Announcing the results in Harare this Tuesday, ZIMSEC Board Chairperson, Professor Eddy Mwenje said the results can be accessed online from 18:00 hours through the ZIMSEC portal.
“The Advanced level results will be accessible online to all candidates and authorised personnel with effect from today the 5th of April 2022. Head of examinations centres will be able to collect the results for their respective schools or centres from our regional offices on Wednesday 6 April 2022,” said Professor Mwenje.
He applauded the 3.68 percent pass-rate increase recorded for the 2021 examinations considering that most lessons were conducted online.
“There was a decrease of 2.03 percent in the candidate entries where the total number of candidates who sat for the November 2021 examinations was 49 128 as compared to 50 287 in November 2020. Of these 48 234 wrote two or more subjects compared to 49 153 last year. For those who wrote two or more subjects 40 842 obtained grade E or better. This translates to 84.67 percent pass rate. In November 2020 however 49 153 wrote two or more subjects and 39 802 obtained grade E or better in two or more subjects translating to percentage pass rate of 80.98. The national pass rate for 2021, therefore increased by 3.68 percent,” explained ZIMSEC Board Chair.
Female school candidates also performed well, recording an 89.04 percent pass rate, up from the 85.8 percent recorded the previous year.
A total of 20 262 sat for the examinations, with 18 043 having passed two or more subjects.
For the male school candidates, an 84.72 percent pass rate was recorded up from the 80.31 percent of 2020.
The total number for those who sat for two or more subjects was 20 337, with 17 233 having passed two more subjects.
