ZIMRA official up for fraud

By ZBC Reporter
A 31 year old Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) official has appeared in court facing fraud charges.

It is the State’s case that in 2019, ZIMRA official, Yvonne Mangwende together with Cecil Kashiri corruptly wrote a letter to the Registrar of Central Vehicle Registry to register a Ford Ranger vehicle.

The two falsely claimed that the vehicle had been properly cleared at the Beitbridge border Post, with a customs clearance certificate having been issued to the client who had, however, lost it.

The state further alleges that Mangwende went on to unlawfully register the vehicle at the centre of controversy in Kashiri’s name, prejudicing the tax collector of thousands of dollars.

Mangwende was granted five thousand dollars bail.

Meanwhile, Harare land developer Felix Munyaradzi’s bid for freedom hit a snag after his bail application was dismissed.

Munyaradzi is facing four counts of fraud for allegedly swindling unsuspecting home seekers of more than 80 thousand United States dollars in Mount Hampden, Harare, between 2015 and 2018.

He was remanded in custody to the 18th of this month.
