GOVERNMENT has intensified efforts to clear an anticipated rise in the volume of traffic at the country’s border posts ahead of the festive holidays, with the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) deploying more staff to all the ports of entry.
The festive season is always characterised by huge volumes of traffic and people coming in and going out of Zimbabwe. However, it is service delivery that is under the spotlight due to a rise in demand for clearing procedures.
Speaking in Harare this Friday, ZIMRA Commissioner General, Faith Mazani said the move was aimed at ensuring that there was no congestion and delays at all points of entry.
“Our focus is now on ensuring efficiency, we do not want to repeat the past so we shall be doing all our best to make sure there is no congestion,” she said.
She also highlighted that regular monitoring systems have also been put in place to facilitate smooth clearing procedures.
“ There is an online system that we believe will also play a key increasing efficiency,” added Mazani
Zimbabwe is implementing ease of doing business reforms to facilitate efficient clearing and transaction systems at ports of entries.
