Zimparks warns villagers against night movements as stray lions roam around

STRAY lions have been spotted in the Chisase area along Ngundu-Triangle highway in Masvingo, with authorities warning villagers to minimise movement in the area until the animals are captured.

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) reaction team is conducting a thorough search for a pride of lions spotted in Chisase area near Renco Mine turn off along Ngundu-Triangle Highway in Masvingo.

Zimparks spokesperson Tinashe Farawo confirmed the development, saying the team is working round the clock to capture the lions after fresh spew was discovered Tuesday night.

“We have received reports of lions but not hyenas, we are on the ground tracking the lions and our officers say the lions are in the vicinity,” said Farawo.

Zimparks has also embarked on awareness campaigns to encourage villagers to minimise movement at night.
