As the second wave of COVID-19 continues to ravage the globe, the development has once again dealt the countrys national handball federation a major blow, forcing it to postpone its General Elective Meeting which was supposed to be held at Girls High School in Harare on Saturday.
The Zimbabwe Handball Federation (ZHF) Secretary General Edison Chirowodza confirmed the association can no longer hold its elective meeting as guided by the Sports and Recreation Commission.
“We were indeed supposed to hold our General Elective Meeting on Saturday the 23rd of this month at Girls High School Harare but we received correspondence from the SRC dated 18 January that we cannot go ahead with the programme in line with SI 10 of 2021 which stipulates that all sporting and recreational activities remain suspended. Hence, we follow the dictates of the supreme body of sports in the country.”
The elections would have seen all the countrys 10 provinces voting, with the posts of the president of the federation, vice president and committee members up for grabs.
the ZHF had, However, hoped to go ahead with the elections virtually but their application could not sail through due to the limited time left.
