Zimbabwe Baseball was this weekend plunged into mourning following the death of national team player, Joel Tendere in a car accident.

Joel Tenderere died on the spot this Saturday when the vehicle he was travelling in crashed along the Harare, Chirundu road.

The talented 33 year old outfield player, who was also exceptional with the bat, has long been viewed as an important pivot for the national side.

According to the Zimbabwe Baseball Association President, Morris Banda, his death has robbed the nation of someone who still had a lot of contribution to make to the local game.

“He was just a very good young man who was very humble and coachable. All the times I would say to the technical team that all my money was on him because he was promising. It’s a great loss to the baseball community,” he says.

Tenderere represented the country at numerous competitions including the 2019 Africa Baseball Championships where Zimbabwe returned with a Bronze medal from the event hosted by South Africa.
