THE UK’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Melanie Robinson says relations between her country and Zimbabwe are on the mend and the two sides have agreed to set up a re-engagement structure to look into all concerns from either parties.
The second republic has been on a re-engagement drive, pushing forward a consistent message that the country is willing to work with all countries across the globe.
This Friday, the UK’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe her Excellency Melanie Robinson paid a courtesy call on Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Retired Lieutenant General, Dr Sibusiso Moyo where she reiterated her country’s position to step up relations with Zimbabwe.
”We talked about economic issues including the importance of the UK and Zimbabwe maintaining our trade relationship,” said the UK ambassador.
Britain is also willing to work with Zimbabwe in fighting COVID-19, especially on issues regarding health workers’ welfare.
”We talked about the health situation in Zimbabwe and the challenge of Covid, which is a challenge which all of us are in the word, the honourable minister thanked the UK for substantial financial support in this area and I encouraged the government to resolve the situation with health workers,” she said.
Britain, which has already promised material worth US$43,6 million to help with COVID-19 will join other countries like China and India which are supporting Zimbabwe’s efforts in the fight against the global pandemic.
