Zim players shine on global football scene

Warriors’ striker Prince Dube continues to shine in the Tanzanian top-flight league after scoring the winner in Azam’s 2-1 victory away to Kagera Sugar this Wednesday.

The Zimbabwean international is fast turning out to be the Prince of African football as he continues to make headlines in Tanzania with his goal scoring form.

Dube was at it again this Wednesday when he fired his side to victory inside 27 minutes against Kagera Sugar.

The Zimbabwe international, who is part of the Warriors provisional squad named by Coach Zdravko Logarusic for the back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia later this month, also helped Azam to a 1-0 win against Mbuni FC in the Tanzanian FA Cup last weekend.

Elsewhere, Lyon and Warriors striker Tino Kadewere was part of The Kids team which edged Rennes 1-0 to keep pressure on the top two as the race for the French league crown rages on.

Still in the French league, Zimbabwe international Marshal Munetsi came in as a second half substitute for Reims in their 2-1 win over Nantes.

However, it was not so good news for defensive midfielder Marvelous Nakamba’s Aston Villa who conceded a goal for the first time this season with the Zimbabwean in the starting eleven.

Despite losing 1-0 to Sheffield, Nakamba put up a decent show as he won 3/4 duels, completed two tackles and seven recoveries.

It is, however, disheartening that the midfielder will not be available for the Warriors make-or-break AFCON qualifiers later this month owing to the new UK COVID-19 laws.
