In line with this year’s World Health Day theme: ‘Building a Fairer, Healthier World,’ Zimbabwe has made great strides in ensuring equal access to health services especially when it comes to COVID-19 vaccines.
This came out at belated virtual World Health Day commemorations held to mark the day which falls on the 7th of April every year.
Let’s hear from Vice president General (Rtd) Dr Constantino Chiwenga, who is also the Minister of Health and Child Care.
“My ministry is ensuring that Covid-19 vaccines are distributed equitably, without regard to class or political affiliation. Access to health care should not be a luxury reserved for the elite.
“The positive progress in the COVID-19 national response has thus far been successful as a result of initiatives being pursued by government and its development partners to ensure everyone has access to knowledge on Covid-19 testing and care,” he said.
Vice President Chiwenga also encouraged citizens to freely take up the Covid-19 vaccines being offered by the government.
“I also want to take this opportunity to urge the generality of Zimbabweans to desist from vaccine hesitancy and do the right thing till the nation achieves herd immunity.”
