CHINESE ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Guo Shaochun has lauded the ‘Zimbabwe is Open for Business’ policy, which is now attracting conglomerates from across the globe.
The success of the mantra was topical at the inaugural Investor Forum held in Harare this Wednesday.
Briefing stakeholders, the Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Shaochun said the Second Republic’s policies have improved the business environment which is attracting conglomerates from across the world.
“Under the leadership of H.E President Emmerson Mnangagwa, and with the tireless efforts of Zimbabwean people, we believe that more fruitful results will be achieved through the “Open for Business” policy, the investment environment will surely be improved and more investments by well-established foreign companies, including Chinese enterprise, will come to Zimbabwe. All of these will provide a strong impetus to Zimbabwe’s economy,” he said.
China is pursuing several infrastructure development projects in Zimbabwe which are at various stages of completion and have huge impact on people’s lives.
“The China-financed projects currently under construction in Zimbabwe covering electricity generation, airports and communication facilities are all focusing on areas most in need of development. We hope other countries, especially those with capabilities, could do more to help improve Zimbabwe’s infrastructure,” he said.
Zimbabwe and China enjoy cordial relations which have seen the construction of a new Parliament building, expansion of Hwange Power Station Units 7 and 8 and expansion of the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, among other projects.
