MORE than ten local companies and universities involved in the manufacturing of medicines and bio-pharmaceuticals are in Dubai for the Zimbabwe Health Investment Forum being held on the sidelines of the Expo 2020 Dubai.

Expo 2020 Dubai has provided a huge investment opportunity for a number of countries as companies jostle to clinch deals and exploit operational synergies.

Zimbabwe’s health sector has made good use of the Expo by hosting the Zimbabwe Health Investment Forum and Business to Business Meeting, which have received buy-in from international investors.

“We are impressed by the exhibitions which we have seen here and we would like to partner especially in the areas of PPEs manufacturing and medical consumables,” noted Alessandro Rosso of Code Pharmaceuticals.

“From what we have seen here, we have already committed ourselves to come and visit Zimbabwe. We want to create synergies so that we can work together on medical tourism. Zimbabwe has a lot of potential and both India and Zimbabwe can equally benefit,” said Perfection International India’s Anand Kota.

The Acting Minister of Health and Child Care, Professor Amon Murwira, who is leading the delegation, welcomed all potential investors to Zimbabwe.

“Distinguished guests, Zimbabwe is a logistical hub for the SADC, COMESA and the African Union. SADC alone has a combined population of more than 263 million people and the African Union a population of 1.4 billion. This population provides a huge market opportunity for lucrative investment in health care services. There is a huge opportunity for investment in establishing emergency logistical services across the country’s highways,” he said.

Zimbabwe’s Expo 2020 Dubai pavilion team has been on an aggressive marketing drive of Destination Zimbabwe ahead of the Zimbabwe National Day set for the 14th of March.
