THE ZIMBABWE Liberation War Collaborators (ZILIWACO) national executive has embarked on a nationwide tour to update its membership on their new role in ZANU PF party structures and constitutional matters of their association.
Scores of war collaborators from Mashonaland West province under the ZILIWACO banner converged in Chinhoyi recently for a meeting which saw the Vice National Chairperson, Cde Josephine Gandiya speaking on their role in Zanu PF party structures.
“Following the resolution to elevate our organisation from being an affiliate organisation to a wing, the President asked us to come up with a convenient structure and we have since proposed to take the composition of the youth wing. This is good news we will be able to defend what we fought for, we will also be able to meet the president without any hustles,” Cde Gandiya said.
Cde Gandiya also spoke about the welfare and vetting of the liberation war collaborators which she said can only be addressed through the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Act
War Veterans Chairman for Mashonaland West province, Cde Cornileus Muwoni urged government to take the concerns of the war collaborators seriously as they played a pivotal role during the liberation struggle.
“This country was born out of a war and collaborators were the most vulnerable and government should look at them at that level because they did not have any weapons to defend themselves,” said Cde Muwoni.
War veterans played a pivotal role during the liberation struggle as they provided moral and material support to liberation fighters.
The association also pledged total support to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
