ZBC’s Radio Zimbabwe scoops superbrand award

MARKETING professionals have been challenged to support the government’s national development strategy one through image building both locally and internationally.
Speaking at the 2020 superbrands awards ceremony last night, the Patron of the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe, who is also the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa called on marketers to use their professional expertise in propelling the country towards a middle-income economy by 2030.
“I implore you as marketing professionals, business leaders to render the much-needed support to initiatives stated in the strategy as much as possible. The three areas you can assist include the digital economy, human capital development and innovation as well as the image building in international engagement and re-engagement. Your brands’ presence on the shelves of international markets becomes a vital indication of our strength and capabilities in the global village as a country our strength as a country is indicated by the competitiveness of our products and services on the international markets let us make our brands compete for shelve space in the huge retail outlets and e-commerce platforms. together we can make it, together we can make Zimbabwe great,” she said.
In a speech read on her behalf by Senator Mutsvangwa, guest of honour at the awards ceremony, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Dr Sekai Nzenza reiterated government’s commitment in reviving industry competitiveness.
“Government through my ministry is implementing the Zimbabwe National Industrial Development Policy 2019-2023 to ensure sustainable development of industrial and commercial enterprises as well as the creation of new ones. Government has also recently launched the Consumer Protection Act Chapter 14;44, whose main thrust is to protect the consumer,” she said.
Various companies scooped awards in different sectors including ZBC’s Radio Zimbabwe, which scooped the Superbrand of the Year Award in the Electronic media radio sector category for the second year running.
“It is all team work and this shows that we are serious about we do, we have a mandate to deliver, we have been privileged as a corporation to be given a grant by government and we do not take this lightly as a corporation and from marketing, we promise the government that we will ensure that our major stakeholder gets a return from its investment,” she said.
The awards ceremony also witnessed Mr Denny Marandure, who has been at the helm of the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe for the past two years, handing over the presidency to Professor Zororo Muranda.
